ONLINE COURSES

Inquiries may be addressed to PastorMike@TheRabbi.com

As a professor and online studies coordinator at Messiah Biblical Institute & The Joseph Rabinowitz Graduate School, I am priviledged to supervise online directed (independent) studies for which you may receive undergraduate or graduate credit toward a degree.  At this time, there are not a sufficient number of online courses offered to complete an entire degree, so the student who wants a degree must take courses through other means as well.  Such other means may include:

  • On-campus courses
  • Taped lecture courses
  • Specially arranged directed studies
  • Courses taken at other schools

Online directed studies are supervised and graded by e-mail and chat room conferences, but responsibility for the educational experience resides heavily with the student.  Typically, one or more text books are assigned, and the course consists of mastering all or part of their content.   Oversight includes weekly correspondence with the supervising professor which must include a progress report, but can include questions for discussion.  The professor also may initiate dialogue on an aspect of the course.  Examinations and papers are the vehicles for evaluation, and all credits earned are quarter-hour credits..

Courses which I am prepared to supervise at this time are:

  • JEWISH ROOTS (undergraduate & graduate, 3 credits)
Texts:  Daniel C. Juster, Jewish Roots
Marvin R. Wilson, Our Father Abraham
David H. Stern, Messianic Jewish Manifesto
  • GOD'S SABBATHS & FESTIVALS (undergraduate & graduate, 3 credits)
Texts:  Barney Kasdan, God's Appointed Times
Samuele Bacchiocchi, God's Festivals in Scripture and History, Parts 1 & 2
(Moody), The Feasts of The Lord
Mitch & Zhava Glaser, The Fall Feasts
Edward Chumney, The Seven Festivals of The Messiah
  • COVENANT & INTEGRITY (undergraduate, 3 credits)
Texts:  Daniel C. Juster, Due Process
               Keith Intrater, Covenant Relationships
  • TOOLS & METHODS OF BIBLICAL STUDY (undergraduate, 3 credits)
Texts:  Frederick W. Danker, Multipurpose Tools for Bible Study
Gordon D. Fee & Douglas Stuart, How to Read The Bible for All Its Worth

As time goes on, the number of courses offered will grow, and other professors will join in the supervision.  Meanwhile, you may propose a directed study which has not been listed if you know one or more published books which can form its basis.
