 DISTANCE MEMBERSHIP
Distance Membership is designed for persons who live in remote regions,
and for that reason or other valid reasons, are not members of a local church or
congregation. That the reasons be "valid" is important, because in most
cases, a congregation nearby will meet spiritual and fellowship needs far better than one
at a distance.
"The Rabbi's House" is a ministry of Ahavat Yeshua, a Messianic
Jewish congregation located in the Nation's capital. Because "The Rabbi's
House" is not itself a congregation, Distance Membership is provided by Ahavat
Yeshua, with pastoral service online being provided primarily by pastor Mike Rudolph
through e-mail correspondence.
Except for accomodations due to the long distance communication, Distance
Membership is exactly the same as full membership in both its obligations and
priviledges. The requirements of Distance Membership are as follows:
That the applicant be a born-again believer in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus).
That the applicant agree with the Congregations's Statement of Faith
(see Doctrinal Statement).
That the applicant agree with the Jewish-rooted context in which the
Congregation functions, including the keeping of the Sabbath. A full understanding
of such matters may be found in the book "Jewish Roots", by Daniel C. Juster.
That the applicant agree to abide by the covenantal requirements of
Scripture to remain in reconciled fellowship with all members of the body of believers,
and to deal with individual conflict through the procedures outlined in Matthew 18:15-18.
That the applicant agree to accept the elders of Ahavat Yeshua as his or
her spiritual leaders in the context of Hebrews 13:17.
That the applicant agree to conduct his or her life in conformity with
the moral teachings of Scripture.
That the applicant agree to remain in continuous fellowship with leaders
and members of the Congregation. For Online Members, this means at minimum, logging
onto "The Rabbi's House" website, and communicating with Pastor Mike via e-mail
weekly.
That the applicant agree to support the Congregation and this ministry
through tithes and offerings.
